Why it Smoke?

The smoke comes from the glue contained in mica paper, when heated, the glue dry up and smoking. But the smoke will disappear after first use(10 minutes using).

Why it blowing cold air?

When used incorrectly(too close to the target), the hot air backflows, causing the inner tube overheating, which then triggers the fuse, causing the heating to stop and only cold air to blow.
After 15-20s the cold air cools down the internal temperature, the fuse is restored and the heating restarts
